The Marksman Qualification Program is the National Rifle Association of America's most popular course. This course covers all the different shooting disciplines (handgun, light rifle, high-power rifle, sporting rifle, muzzle loading firearm). The course itself is very informal and is self paced. To progress between the levels you find out the shooting requirement and work towards obtaining that level. The evidence can be collected over a time period to suit you. The levels start off easy and gradually work up through the levels to be very challenging. The levels are:- Pro-marksman, Marksman, Marksman 1st class, Sharpshooter, and Expert. There is another grade of Distinguished expert but this has to be witnessed by US NRA members and there are not many of those in this country. When you start the course you get a discipline patch to sew on your shooting jacket.
As you progress you get a rocker to sew underneath that shows the level you have achieved. You also get a certificate suitable for framing. Be aware that the qualification patches and rockers are available from the NRA of America but the postage is over $50. Get your club to run these courses and share the cost amongst all your members.
